Health official: Stick to mandated intervals for vaccine

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The number of eligible Mainers who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus is approaching 50%. While that’s good news, health officials are encouraging people to be sure to stick to recommended intervals between Moderna and Pfizer shots.

Pfizer and Moderna recommend 21 and 28 days in between doses, respectively.

Dr. Dora Mills, chief health improvement officer with Maine Health, said that jumping the gun could impact the additional long-term protection
provided by the second dose.
