A HIGH SPEED CHASE, Motorcycle Clocked In Excess 150 MPH

Monday May 3, 2021 shortly before 2pm the East Millinocket Police Department was requested to attempt to locate a motorcycle that had passed through the Houlton Port of Entry without stopping at US Customs. The motorcycle continued to travel southbound on Interstate 95 in excess of 100 mph and the motorcycle failed to stop for US Customs officers. Officers soon learned the vehicle was clocked on radar in excess of 150 mph and was continuing to travel toward Medway.
East Millinocket Officers were positioned at various locations and were updated by a Maine Forest Service helicopter the vehicle was exiting in Medway and continuing toward East Millinocket. An officer located the bike traveling on Medway Rd and attempted a traffic stop and the motorcycle failed to stop and took off at a high rate of speed.
A pursuit then ensued which traveled through Medway, East Millinocket and into Millinocket with the motorcyclist traveling in excess of 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic, operating on the shoulder and driving recklessly.
The pursuit continued through several streets in Millinocket before the motorcyclist came to a stop on Katahdin Avenue. Officers from the East Millinocket Police Department were able to take Jeremy Richard, 27 of New Brunswick Canada into custody without incident.
East Millinocket Police charged Richard with Eluding and charges of Criminal Speeding, Failure to Stop for Law Enforcement, Driving to Endanger, and Reckless Conduct are also being requested.
Richard was then turned over to the US Border Patrol in regards to the original incident.
The East Millinocket Police Department would like to thank the Maine Forest Service helicopter for their invaluable assistance in bringing the pursuit to a safe resolution and also the help of the Maine State Police and US Border Patrol. Additionally, we want to recognize the coordinated team work of the dispatchers at the Penobscot Regional Communication Center and the Bangor Regional Communication Center for assisting in relaying of crucial information between State, Local and Federal resources involved in the incident.”
