Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Caribou ME 117 AM EST Thu Jan 22 2026 MEZ011-015>017-029>032-231130- Central Penobscot-Southern Penobscot-Interior Hancock- Central Washington-Coastal Hancock-Coastal Washington- Southern Piscataquis-Northern Washington- 117 AM EST Thu Jan 22 2026 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Central Highlands Maine, Coastal DownEast Maine, Far Eastern Maine, Interior DownEast Maine and Penobscot Valley Maine. Light snow early this morning will give 2 to 4 inches Downeast. This may result in slippery roads conditions early this morning. The potential exists of heavy snow showers or brief squalls this afternoon which may cause brief whiteouts and slippery travel conditions. Friday afternoon a greater risk of snow squalls exists, mainly from midday through the afternoon. Extremely cold wind chills and temperatures are expected late Friday through Monday. Wind chills should bottom out around 25 below zero for much of the area, and it will remain bitterly cold for several days. This should be a cold outbreak of the magnitude we typically see only every few years.
