The Maine State Police will graduate its 85th Recruit Training Troop (RTT) on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. This year’s RTT includes 20 recruits, making it the largest class of new Troopers since 2000. Governor Janet Mills will serve as the keynote speaker during the ceremony. The RTT is a six-week advanced training program that follows the 18-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLETP) at the Academy. The RTT is designed to build on the foundational BLETP experience, with a strong emphasis on hands-on training and real-world application of law enforcement skills. Unlike the BLETP, the RTT is primarily nonresidential, allowing recruits to begin adjusting to the demands and structure of a Trooper’s daily responsibilities. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are sworn in as Maine State Police Troopers.
