Milbridge, Maine – The Maine Marine Patrol will temporarily suspend the search this evening for Alton Wallace, 51 of Milbridge, who was reported missing yesterday afternoon by a family member after failing to return from harvesting clams. Marine Patrol along with the State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Dive Team will resume the search tomorrow in Narraguagus Bay. Depending on weather, Marine Patrol Pilot Steve Ingram will also participate in the search.
The search for Mr. Wallace began yesterday at approximately 3:15 pm and focused on the area near Fickett Point at the mouth of the Narraguagus River. Responders were able to use Mr. Wallace’s last cell phone ping which occurred yesterday at approximately 7:30 am to determine a location for the search. The search yesterday and today also involved members of the US Coast Guard, the Maine Warden Service, the Maine Forest Service, and local fishermen.

MILBRIDGE, Maine—A Downeast community is once again rallying together as the search continues for a missing local fisherman.
51-year-old Alton Wallace was reported missing Sunday after he did not return from harvesting clams in the waters of Narraguagus Bay.
Using data from his last cell phone ping, the Marine Patrol initiated a search in the area.
While the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search efforts Monday morning, the Marine Patrol continues its operations alongside State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and local fishermen. Wallace’s family, friends, and fellow community members have also joined the search, determined to bring him home.
Support from the community remains strong, with many expressing their gratitude for the efforts of volunteers and officials alike.
