FILE 6
The Maine State Police’s Access Integrity Unit (AIU) houses Maine’s teletype system. The system acts as a pass-through conduit where law enforcement agencies from around the state can submit various teletypes to be automatically dispersed to authorized agencies. This process is in fact automatic and does not involve case by case monitoring by AIU personnel.
The Department of Public Safety nor any other state law enforcement agency requested a teletype on Mr. Card prior to the tragic events on October 26th. It should also be noted that no bulletins or assistance was requested from the Maine Information and Analysis Center.
The Department of Public Safety has no regulatory authority over law enforcement agencies in Maine. If you have questions reference to the actions of any of the departments involved in this situation you should follow up with them directly.

The gun located in the vehicle was a Ruger SFAR Rifle.
When Card was found deceased, he had with him a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun and a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 rifle.

FROM THE ATF
Shortly after the positive identification of Robert CARD Jr., representatives from ATF developed a list of Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) in a specified area around the shooting location. ATF Special Agents directed each identified FFL to search for record of any additional purchases conducted by CARD. Additionally, ATF sent a statewide FFL alert to all Maine licensees to broaden the scope of the records search for any other firearms potentially associated with CARD. During these processes, several firearms were identified by ATF as having been purchased by CARD in the state of Maine.
