DECH Virtual Light A Life Reaches $6,000 Goal with Help from the Auxiliary
Machias – Down East Community Hospital’s annual Light A Life celebration raised $6,000 for the equipment fund and saw many people paying touching tributes to their loved ones. The tributes, given in honor or in memory of loved ones, are in included in the Light A Life video that can be viewed on our website page at www.dech.org under about us/publications. It can also be viewed on YouTube https://youtu.be/Zxz5mAQV7mk and on our Facebook page. Light A Life is our annual fundraiser that has taken place for the last 34 years.
CEO, Steve Lail, “We had a goal of $6,000 and we made it because of the generosity of our community and to the DECH Auxiliary. Their $1,000 donation got us to the finish line. The Auxiliary has worked tirelessly to promote and give support to the hospital since before the first brick was laid to our foundation. If we go back just 15 of those 60 years, their donations exceed $75,000. In addition, they also provide scholarships for those going into the medical field. Scholarship totals since 2010 alone add up to $30,000. Impressive, to say the least. We can’t thank them enough for all they do, but we can tell them how much they are appreciated. They are amazing.”
