Three Hancock County residents are arrested and charged with felony drug trafficking

. MDEA agents along with Hancock County Sheriff Deputies seized a large quantity of drugs and cash.

As the result of an on-going drug investigation by MDEA’s Downeast Task Force based in Ellsworth, Maine, three Hancock County residents have been charged with felony drug trafficking offenses involving the suspected sale of Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Fentanyl.

Early Wednesday morning, March 9, 2022, MDEA agents, working closely with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office conducted a stop of a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Jeffrey WITHAM of Verona Island, Maine. Also in the vehicle with WITHAM was 36-year-old Veronica GOMM, of Verona Island. At the time of the stop, WITHAM had court-ordered search and testing conditions imposed by the court stemming from pending criminal offenses.

Following the stop, agents and Hancock County Deputies conducted a search of WITHAM’s vehicle and occupants, WITHAM and GOMM. Seized during this search was methamphetamine, cocaine HCL, fentanyl and crack cocaine, along with several thousand dollars in suspected drug proceeds. Both WITHAM and GOMM were taken into custody following this search and transported to the Hancock County Jail.

Immediately after this vehicle stop, agents obtained a search warrant for WITHAM’s residence located on Verona Island. Shortly before noon on March 9, 2022 agents and Hancock Sheriff’s Deputies executed this warrant. Upon entry into the house, agents located 24-year-old Therion HARMON of Deer Isle. Harmon was in possession of approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine.

Additionally, following a search of WITHAM’s house, agents located additional methamphetamine, along with suspected fentanyl and $20,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Between the search of the vehicle and occupants (WITHAM and GOMM) and the search of WITHAM’s house and occupant (HARMON), agents seized 47.5 grams of methamphetamine, 46 grams of Cocaine HCL, 30 grams of suspected fentanyl, 5 grams of crack cocaine and over $25,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

  • WITHAM has been charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs. This charged was elevated due to a previous drug trafficking conviction. Both GOMM and HARMON were charged with one count of Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs. All were transported to the Hancock County Jail. All will have an initial appearance on these charges Thursday, March 10, 2022.
