RANDOLPH, Maine (WQDY) – A home in Randolph was partially damaged after a fire authorities believe was caused by a space heater.
Randolph firefighters along with mutual aid from Farmingdale, Pittston, and West Gardiner responded to the fire on Lincoln Street around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Firefighters found smoke coming from a rear window and found a bedroom on fire.
A working smoke detector alerted the homeowner giving her the time to get out of the home and she had the good sense to close the door before leaving
which helped contain the fire. Crews quickly knocked down the fire.
The homeowner was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified.
Early findings indicate the fire originated from an electric heater placed too close to combustibles in the bedroom.
