A new retirement study is out—and New Hampshire takes the crown as the top state to retire in 2025. It leads in safety and ranks high for health care and low taxes.
Right behind it is Maine, coming in at number two.
Maine stands out for having the highest percentage of seniors, great health care, and a strong arts scene—but sunshine is scarce.
Other strong performers include Wyoming, Vermont, and Idaho, each offering a mix of affordability, safety, and entertainment.
At the other end of the list? Louisiana ranks dead last, dragged down by crime and natural disasters. Texas and Oklahoma didn’t fare much better, scoring low in health care and affordability.
Retirement isn’t just about warm weather anymore—this study puts lifestyle, safety, and access to care front and center.
