Maine State Police are investigating a homicide in the town of Union.
Early Thursday morning, wardens searching Crawford Pond found the body of a missing paddleboarder—48-year-old Sunshine Stewart of Tenants Harbor.
She was last seen Wednesday evening between 6 and 9 near 100 Acre Island. An autopsy confirmed she died by homicide, though the cause hasn’t been released. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen her on the water to call State Police. The case remains active, and more updates will be shared as the investigation moves forward. Law enforcement is also urging people to stay alert and report anything suspicious.
