Maine: Call for Applications to Join the American Fisheries Advisory Committee

    • The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is seeking applications for seven positions on the American Fisheries Advisory Committee (AFAC).

 

    • Region 2, which includes Maine, is represented on the committee, impacting local fisheries and seafood industries.

 

    • The committee advises the Secretary of Commerce on financial assistance awards under the Saltonstall-Kennedy (S-K) Grant Competition.

 

    • Applicants from Maine should have experience as a seafood harvester or processor.

 

    • Selected members will serve a three-year term and participate in up to three meetings annually, including two in-person and one virtual meeting.

 

    • The committee’s role includes identifying the needs of fishing communities, setting funding limits, and establishing application review criteria for the S-K Grant Competition.
