Later this morning, we hope to have more specific information, but here is the general situation. Linemen in EMEC’s northern area will be working to restore power in southern Aroostook and northern Penobscot counties, where the transmission line is active.
We still have no information about when the NB Power transmission line feeding power to 80% of EMEC’s system will be re-energized. EMEC line crews are working to clear damage to the Co-op’s 69 kV line north of Calais.
While it has not been possible to fully assess the damage to EMEC’s delivery grid, what we know of the damage is that it is widespread, and it will take more than today and tonight to repair. EMEC’s linemen will be working to repair damage on the American side, so that we can restore power to as much as possible once the transmission line is re-energized.
Several outside crews will be arriving today to join EMEC’s linemen in what appears to be several days’ work. We will update these messages as we get more information.
