Fundraising Continues in Princeton for Playground

In January of 2020, the Town of Princeton started a fundraising campaign to put a
playground near their baseball field and basketball courts. In March of 2020, the world
shut down due to COVID. In January of 2023, a team of parents came together to start
the Parks & Recreation program. In doing so, they also decided to revamp fund raising
efforts for the playground. As you know, the economy looks a bit different now than it did
prior to COVID so while they’ve raised $30,000 before COVID, they need quite a bit
more now. They’re asking for help on Giving Tuesday from folks who are able to
contribute. Princeton is a rural town in Downeast Maine, known as the Sportsman’s
Paradise. The rec group is on a mission to promote and enhance the quality of life for
residents in and around the Town of Princeton. By renovating the recreation space and
putting the playground in, they will be able to improve mental health and increase
physical health for kids and adults in the community which will reduce depression and
anxiety. This will also develop a strong sense of community and strengthen social
bonding. The recreation area serves people of all ages so everyone in and near the
Princeton community will benefit from their efforts.
If you’d like to help this community put a playground in, you can make a donation to
their town office or their GoFundMe page. The town office accepts cash or checks made
payable to the Town of Princeton at PO Box 408 Princeton, ME 04668. Or if you go to
GoFundMe.com, you can enter “Princeton Playground” in the search bar. Updates on
their efforts can be found on their Facebook page at Princeton Parks and Recreation or
