Summary of Call for Service:

On Friday, July 7, 2023, shortly after 4:00 pm, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department contacted the Maine State Police to advise that they had an in-custody death within their South Paris facility. State Police Detectives were dispatched to the jail to investigate the incident in conjunction with the Department of Corrections. The deceased female was transported from the facility to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Augusta for an examination to determine manner and cause of death. On Monday, July 10, 2023, the OCME identified the female prisoner as 48-year-old Tamara Miles of Lewiston. The manner and cause of Miles death is currently pending toxicology results.
