Lien Crocker Retires After 44 Years at DECH

Machias – Lien Crocker, our friend and co-worker, has retired after 44 plus years of outstanding service to Down East Community Hospital and the patients and families in this community.

Lien on her time at DECH, “When I came to DECH almost 45 years ago I didn’t speak much English, it seems like a lifetime ago. I’ve learned so much (bad words and all) over the years and made good friends. This has been a very hard decision for me to make “retirement”.  I’ve worked my whole life! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself. Everyone has been so nice and generous to me over the years I’ve worked here, and I have made wonderful friends, “my work family”.  I will be returning to Vietnam in August for a visit. I haven’t been home for 20 years so I’m sure a lot has changed.  You’ll see me again soon……having lunch with the girls, Chinese of course!”

CEO, Steve Lail, on Lien’s Retirement, “To say it won’t be the same around here without her is not just a platitude, it is the absolute truth!  She is a very special person; we will miss her energy, her sense of humor, the twinkle in her eyes, and her kindness. We all hope you have a long, happy retirement Lien.”
