FMO investigating Franklin vehicle fire that injured family

Summary of Call for Service:  

On Sunday, June 11, 2023 at approximately 3:00pm, Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s office responded to a vehicle fire at 49 Hog Bay Road in Franklin.  They determined that a three-year-old boy was in the vehicle at the time of the fire.  The boy’s parents were at the residence working  (it is not their residence).  The parents tried to remove the boy from the vehicle and were injured in the process.  The boy was flown to Mass General to be treated for burn injuries.  The father was transported to Maine General to be treated for burn injuries. The mother was transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, treated for minor burn injuries, and released.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  This is all the information we have at this point. We will update you when additional information is available.
