Two Teens Charged in Calais Shooting

CALAIS, Maine (WQDY) — A Robbinston teen is on house arrest in connection with a shooting in Calais last month.
A second teen from Calais has been summonsed for assault in connection with the shooting.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a 31-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being shot on a walking trail near South Street. Police said he was shot with a small caliber gun.
After an investigation, the 16-year-old from Robbinston was arrested March 1st in connection with the shooting and charged with elevated aggravated assault, a class A crime. He was arraigned at the Machias District Court the same day and placed on house arrest pending his next court appearance scheduled for April 4th.

A second 16-year-old from Calais has been summonsed for assault in connection with the shooting incident and also has a court date of April 4th. The investigation continues and further charges may arise as a result.
The man’s injuries were said to be non-life threatening, but he was transferred to a Bangor hospital for treatment.
