KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) — A Maine osteopathic physician is being charged with illegally distributing opioids and other controlled substances, marking the first arrest by the New England Prescription Opioid Strike Force. Federal law enforcement officials say Dr. Merideth Norris, of Kennebunk, prescribed opioids and other controlled substances without any legitimate medical purpose. Her arrest on Wednesday was first since the creation of the New England Prescription Opioid Strike Force over the summer. She is free on bond. A message on her answering machine said the office is temporarily closed. She didn’t immediately respond to an email message.
