OFFICER INVOLVED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT IN MEXICO

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, at approximately 10:46 p.m., Mexico and Rumford Police,

responded to a domestic violence disturbance at 87 Roxbury Road in Mexico.

Once on scene officers were confronted with an armed male subject. Shots were fired by Mexico Police Officer Dustin Broughton and 22-year-old Daniel Tibbetts of Mexico was transported to the Rumford Hospital by Med Care Ambulance with gunshot wounds.

Tibbetts was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment and is expected to survive.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office with is standard procedure in Maine for any officer involved shootings.
