MaineHealth resolves contract dispute with largest insurer
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine’s largest healthcare provider has resolved a contract dispute with the largest insurer in the state. The resolution means patients who use Anthem health insurance can keep receiving in-network care at the state’s largest hospital, Maine Medical Center in Portland. The dispute between MaineHealth and Anthem threatened to change that. The Portland Press Herald reported on Wednesday that the insurer and hospital network signed a two-year contract. MaineHealth had previously accused Anthem of underpaying and refusing to pay Maine Medical Center claims. Anthem had accused MaineHealth of overcharging for services.
