UPDATE!

the cabin he called home was burned to the ground by a fire

CANTERBURY, N.H. (AP) — Eighty-one-year-old David Lidstone has lived in the woods of New Hampshire along the Merrimack River in a small cabin adorned with solar panels, growing his food, cutting his firewood, and tending to his pets and chickens for almost three decades. But his off-the-grid existence has been challenged in court by a property owner who says he’s squatting. Lidstone was jailed in July on a civil contempt sanction. On Wednesday, the cabin he called home was burned to the ground by a fire. The local fire chief says the cause is under investigation.
