Calais Baseball Knocks Off Machias 8-7 in Extra Innings
At a game in Calais on Monday, May 3rd, Coach Marc Rohde’s Blue Devils upped their record to 2-1 by beating the Machias Bulldogs.
Kobe Saunders hit a double in the bottom of the 8th inning to knock in the game tying run. He would score the game winning run three pitches later on Machias’ throwing error. Saunders ended that day going 3-4 with two singles, a double, and two RBI.
Skinny Dana and Ti Bennett each had two hits and scored two runs for Calais.
Muwin Dana doubled and had an RBI.
Tony Dana earned the win in relief, pitching a strong 8th inning. Ti Bennett pitched six innings, striking out five, and only allowing two earned runs.
Machias was led by Ethan Foss, who scored two runs, and Kyle Anderson, who pitched five innings, striking out 11, and only allowing two runs.
