Well, I’ve missed you!!!
I know what you’re thinking. Sweet 16????? There is no Sweet 16 this year!!
Actually, there is, because the Turkey A Thon is celebrating it’s sweet 16th. That’s right, The Turkey A Thon is a go!!
There may be a few little changes but the Turkey A Thon will go on. Our food pantries are depending on it, this year even more so.
We will be taking precautions at all 7 of our locations, we will follow CDC guidelines, and we will make sure there is a safe way for you to come donate. There will be no hugging or shaking hands but there will be plenty of applause, smiles, thank you, winks and loud laughter.
Many things will remain the same. For example.
We will have socially distancing volunteers set up at 7 locations throughout Washington County.
We will be broadcasting live from 7 am until 5 pm reading through all the names of the many people who stopped in to make a donation.
We will be supporting local grocery stores by spending all money taken in with them to purchase gift certificates.
We will be distributing those gift certificates to food pantries all over Washington County so they can supply a holiday meals to local families.
Last year, Thanks to you and others like you, The Turkey A Thon was able to distribute over $34,700.00 to Washington County food pantries!
That was our biggest year yet. But we cannot rest on our laurels because that total means nothing to families in need this year.
So, let’s all spread the word, set up some friendly competition among friends and family, work mates and school mates, people on all sides of the political spectrum, and of course, businesses can even challenge other businesses. Just ask ask Chris Gardner.
