The State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating a fire that was reported shortly after 2:00 am on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The fire occurred at a building located at 4 Wabanaki Way on Indian Island, just outside of Old Town. The building is owned by the Penobscot Nation. Fire Investigators are working with the Penobscot Nation Police Department, Old Town Police Department, and Old Town Fire Department. The fire caused significant damage to the building. No one was hurt. The fire has been ruled arson.
