Cooke Boats Dispatched! For Relief - May. 03, 2018

BLACKS HARBOUR, N.B.  Cooke Aquaculture has dispatched three boats and professional personnel this morning to embark on flood relief efforts in the Grand Bay-Westfield and Kennebecasis Valley areas. Yesterday the Charlotte County company sent 10,000 sand bags.

"The three boats can hold a total of up to 36 people and can be used to help move people from flooded areas or move goods and supplies to areas where flood waters have cut off access. They can also be used to quickly move emergency personnel or for other emergency response needs," said Joel Richardson, Vice President of Public Relations with Cooke.

Cooke put the boats on standby last week after offering support. The boats are being trailered this morning from St. George for staging and assignment by the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization.

Cooke Aquaculture Inc. is a family-owned sea farming operation based in Blacks Harbour. The global Cooke family of companies also includes seafood and wild fishery divisions and employs approximately 1,300 throughout New Brunswick and thousands worldwide.
