Free Opioid Safety Seminar for Providers - Sep. 26, 2017

DECH and the Maine Medical Association Hold Free Opioid Prescribing and Patient Safety Seminar for Providers
On Wednesday providers came out in numbers for the provider education session on improving opioid prescribing and patient safety hosted by Down East Community Hospital and the Maine Medical Association. The sessions took place at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Machias and at the Women’s Health Resource Library in Milbridge. Between the two locations, 42 area providers attended to learn about new prescribing laws. The attendees also received information on prescribing and administering Naloxone and NARCAN. They were also instructed on how to prepare scripting for opioid safety discussions with patients, family, or friends. Attendees included DECH providers, other area providers, veterinarians, pharmacists, dentist, case managers, and counselors.
This service was presented by the Maine Independent Clinical Information Service and was partially funded by the Department of Health & Human Services.
