Volunteer Ctr Of Charlotte County Needs Donations- The Calais American Legion Comes Through! - Jun. 17, 2014
ST. STEPHEN, New Brunswick - (WQDY) -- The going remains tough for many people in our local area and the Volunteer Centre of Charlotte County also feels the pinch.
Coordinator Donna Linton tells WQDY NEWS they are in dire straights with several families calling upon them to assist with providing food.
"It is a very slow time of the the year donation wise and we would like to plea to your listeners to HELP FILL THE SHELVES to feed over 200 area families in need this month."
The food pantry is located at 199 Union Street in St. Stephen-- it's the same parking lot as the St. Stephen fire station. The Volunteer Centre is OPEN FOR DONATIONS Monday- Friday. Their phone number is 466-4995.
THEY NEED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING although Linton said they're set for sauces.
Urgently needed: Kraft Dinner, Juices, Can Milk, Can vegetables, Can Fruit, Soups, Pasta, cereal and crackers.
Shortly after the story aired on Classic Hits WQDY & WALZ , Tuesday morning, the Calais American Legion came through and donated $100.00 worth of non-perishable food items to the St. Stephen Food Bank.

"We challenge ALL organizations to match our donation.We try to support both sides of the Border!" said Commander Mike of the Calais American Legion.
