Man Wounded In Princeton Shooting, Assailant Dead - Oct. 02, 2013

State Police say  the owner of a  campground in Princeton was shot Tuesday afternoon by a man, who was later found dead inside his vehicle.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that 60-year-old Steve Whitman is being treated at EMMC in Bangor for two gunshot wounds. He is expected to survive.  

Police said the assailant, 52-year-old Craig Woodruff of Baileyville was found dead a short distance away inside his SUV, along the Long Lake Camp Road. Woodruff's body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for an autopsy on Wednesday.  

Whitman called 911 to report the shooting  a few minutes before 5 p.m. and identified Woodruff as the man who shot him. Both men knew each other.

Whitman and his wife own Long Lake Camps in Princeton. A team of State Police detectives are investigating the shooting.
