Eastport Man Unhurt After Collision With Deer - Aug. 18, 2013

An Eastport man escaped serious injury after a deer ran across the road and into his SUV.

Tom McLaughlin was travelling outbound on Route 190 almost to Clark Street when a deer ran across the road and into the left front fender of his 2008 Nissan Xterra. The impact caused the deer to flip over onto the windshield and then over and off the roof.

The crash happened at 7:41 a.m. Sunday.

A passerby euthanized the deer by hand just prior to the arrival of Eastport police.

There was significant damage to the SUV and outside of a few very minor cuts from the splintered windshield, McLaughlin was unhurt.
