RCMP Investigating Suspicious House Fire In St. Stephen, N.B. - Mar. 18, 2013

Investigators are probing the cause of an early morning house fire on Queensway in St. Stephen.

RCMP along with firefighters from St. Stephen and Calais responded to the fire shortly after midnight early Monday morning.

Police said the sole occupant of the two-story residence discovered the fire in a porch area at the rear of the home, but was unable to extinguish it, and fled the property to call 911 and notify neighboring residents.

The cause of the fire is being considered suspicious at this time.

The St. Stephen RCMP and the Office of the Fire Marshal of New Brunswick are investigating.
