RCMP: U.S. Man Sentenced In Child Porn Smuggling Case - Jan. 04, 2013
ST. STEPHEN, New Brunswick -- A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 15 months in jail for possession of and smuggling into Canada images of children being sexually abused.
31-year-old Shayne Clark of Philadelphia was arrested at the St. Stephen border crossing in October by members of the Canada Border Services Agency when they searched his vehicle and found a laptop containing images of children being sexually abused.
Clark pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Wednesday in St. Stephen Provincial Court.
According to an RCMP press release, Clark's name will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry for a period of 10 years and he was ordered to submit his DNA to the Offender DNA Data Bank.
Clark is also prohibited for a period of 10 years from attending any public area where children under the age of 16 could be present, from having any contact with persons under the age of 16 unless under supervision, and from accessing the Internet.
Once released from jail, Shayne Clark will remain on probation for three years.
