Troop J Weekly Report - Dec. 24, 2012

This week Troop J responded to 155 calls for service. The following are noteworthy complaints:

Dec. 16:

Trooper Chris Smith responded to a disorderly conduct complaint. As a result Trooper Smith warned the parties for disorderly conduct as they were all extremely intoxicated.

Trooper David Barnard handled a phone harassment complaint in Hancock. Warnings were given.

Dec. 17:

Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested a 42-year-old man in Baring for OAS as the result of a traffic stop on Route 1.

Trooper Andrew Foss and Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested a 53-year-old woman on an active warrant out of Kentucky for Contempt of Court.

Trooper Daniel Ryan investigated a theft of mail from a mailbox in Penobscot. Investigation continues.

Trooper Chris Smith responded in Milbridge for an assault complaint. A 28-year-old man was summonsed for assault and criminal threatening.

Trooper Chris Smith investigated a harassment complaint in Harrington. Two parties were issued a written harassment/trespass warning not to have contact with the complainant.

Trooper David Barnard responded to a report of an assault in Hancock. After investigation, the assault was unfounded.

Dec. 18:

Trooper Bryan Creamer investigated a report of property damage in Sullivan. The complainant reported his rear window was smashed by a beer bottle thrown from the roadway. Investigation continues.

Dec. 19:

Trooper Bryan Creamer conducted a wellbeing check on Cranberry Island. A woman was reported to have been missing; the last known location discovered by the Penobscot Sheriff's office was Cranberry Island. The woman was found at a cottage with a 36-year-old Bangor man who was on bail conditions not to have contact with her stemming from a previous incident in Bangor. The man was arrested for violation of bail and the woman was brought to Ellsworth. Sergeant Alden Bustard and Marine Patrol Officer Colin McDonald assisted.

Trooper Bryan Creamer investigated a report of a suspicious incident in Lamoine. It was reported that a young woman came into his home and asked to see a phone book. The young woman then went into the kitchen and went through his medications. The man threw the young woman out of the residence. No medications were missing. The investigation continues.

Dec. 20:

Trooper Chad Lindsey and Trooper Jason Fowler responded to Robbinston to assist EMS with a combative patient. When the Troopers arrived, the subject was cooperative and there were no issues.

Trooper Daniel Ryan summonsed a 21-year-old man in Surry for criminal speed -- the man had just had his license reinstated that day.

Dec. 21:

Trooper Andrew Foss arrested a 67-year-old woman for OUI after she crashed her car in Roque Bluffs.

Trooper Andrew Foss performed a well-being check in Machiasport after it was reported she had been arguing with a male subject when the phone went dead. The person was fine and no crimes had been committed.

Trooper Andrew Foss responded to a suicidal male in East Machias. The male had been making suicidal statements to friends. When he found out Trooper Foss was looking for him, he went mobile and could not initially be located. Trooper Foss found him the following morning and he was found to be okay at this time.

Trooper Daniel Ryan investigated a burglary in Surry. Investigation continues.

Trooper Michael Southard and Sergeant Varney arrested a 35-year-old man in Hancock for OUI after he crashed his vehicle and was found passed out in the driver's seat.

Dec. 22:

Trooper Michael Southard received a motor vehicle complaint in Dedham and located the vehicle on Route 1A in Ellsworth. A 33-year-old Franklin man was arrested for violating his conditions of release. He tested positive for illegal drugs.

Trooper Chris Smith received an informational complaint in Otis. Bloody needles were found in the dumpster.

Trooper Chris Smith responded in Hancock for a suspicious complaint. It was reported that someone moved his generator located on his vacant property.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a threatening complaint. Trooper Kim Sawyer warned the person not to call, threaten, or go to the residence.

Trooper Kim Sawyer responded to a P.I. accident on the S. Princeton Rd., Alexander. The person hit a patch of black ice, over corrected and rolled her truck in the ditch. The truck landed on its passenger side and she hurt her ankle when she climbed out the driver's door and jumped to the ground.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a firing weapons complaint in Princeton, that her neighbor was firing a shotgun in a residential area. Trooper Sawyer spoke with the person who stated that his friend came over and fired a shotgun. He was advised that he was not to fire off a weapon in a residential area.

Dec. 23:

Trooper Andrew Foss investigated a vandalism of vehicles at a company in Edmunds. Investigation continues.

Trooper Chad Lindsey investigated a fatal vehicle crash in Baring. Lynn Roderick, 55, was driving north with her 8-year-old grandson in her truck. She attempted to pass another vehicle and ran head on into 47-year-old Steven Scott. Roderick was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected out the passenger’s window. She was pronounced dead on scene. Scott had to be extricated from his vehicle. Roderick's grandson and Scott were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital. Assisting on scene were Troopers Andrew Foss and Kim Sawyer, Sergeant Tim Varney, Baileyville Police Department, US Border Patrol, and Calais and Baring Fire Departments.
