Piscataqua River bridge All lanes on the bridge have been re-opened.

The Maine State Police has safely taken an individual into protective custody and transported him to a local hospital.
Due to him being taken into protective custody his name is not being released. We can confirm he is a resident of New Hampshire.
Once completed the report on this incident will be submitted to the York County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether any charges will be filed.

PREVIOUS RELEASE

On Thursday, May , 2022 at approximately 6:30 a.m. the Maine State Police were called to an incident involving an individual on the Northbound side of the Piscataqua River bridge. The bridge is currently shut down in both directions but it is expected to re-open shortly. When it does, the breakdown lanes will continue to be closed. The travel lanes will be open but speed will be reduced to 55 MPH. Law enforcement is asking drivers to avoid the bridge if possible and if you can’t avoid it to expect delays.

Assisting Maine State Troopers on scene are New Hampshire State Troopers, Portsmouth PD, Portsmouth FD, Maine Turnpike Authority and New Hampshire DOT.
