The Blue Devil offence struggled to get going Wednesday, as Calais suffered a 13-1 loss to the Washington Academy Raiders. Kobe Saunders knocked in Ti Bennett, who had earlier singled in the first inning to account for the lone Calais run. Dylan Dow provided Calais’ only other hit.
Carson Prout and C.J. Schwinn combined to throw the two-hitter, striking out nine Blue Devil hitters. Jack Emery went 3-4, with a double, and Cecil Grey and Brian Dennison each added two hits for the Raiders
Both teams will again take the field next week in the Northern Maine Class C playoffs.
