Well people, Thank you very much!!!!
I was a little nervous going into this Turkey A Thon, due to the times we live in and the events happening around us. I guess I should have had more confidence in the people who live in, have lived in, or were born in Washington County. You outdid yourselves! Please, take a moment to pat yourself on the back.
Due to the generosity of you, your family, neighbors, friends and relatives, we were able to raise almost $34,000.00 this year!!! We still have money coming in so I will have an accurate total when all the money is turned into the bank and counted.
If you have someone you know that wasn’t able to donate last Friday but would still like to. they can make a check out to Turkey A Thon, and mail it to WQDY, 637 Main Street, Calais, Maine 04619. or they can Venmo the money to me, Jeff Demmons @ Jeff-Demmons.
There are so many people to thank, including our partner Healthy Acadia, and our sponsors, Dunkin in Calais and Machias and VL Tammaro Oil in Woodland and in Calais.
Thanks to our biggest supporter over the years, Dr Peter Wilkinson for always making a very generous donation and always including a heartfelt message that it is my pleasure to read to everyone.
There are so many volunteers at our 7 sites that I am afraid if I started to list them, I would forget someone. We appreciate you all! Some of our organizers include Healthy Acadia’s Regina Grabrovac, Sarah “the mayor” McConnell, Katie Sell, Hannah Crocker, Georgie Kendall, and a cast of others. They took care of our Machias, Milbridge, Columbia and Lubec locations. Paul, Tom, Tess, Shead High School and others organized our Eastport location. Bob, NADA, Lupe, Jayna, organized and ran our Baileyville location and I was joined by an exciting cast from Bangor Savings, Calais Rotary, a state senator, state representative, and Machias Savings Bank in Calais. And that is only the beginning of the many volunteers that have made this work for 16 years. Great Job Everyone!!
We will be in contact with our food pantries over the next couple of weeks to make sure they have their gift certificates in plenty of time before Thanksgiving.
Let’s all do this again next year!
