Pandemic expected to cost Maine’s hospitality industry $1B



BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A study says Maine hotels, restaurants and bars will lose $1 billion in direct taxable revenue this year because of the pandemic. The University of Maine study commissioned by HospitalityMaine finds that hospitality industry is expected to contribute roughly $3 billion in direct taxable revenue to the Maine economy, down from $4 billion last year. The Bangor Daily News reports that it’s the end of a dozen consecutive years of growth.
