PRESIDENT TRUMP AND FIRST LADY MELANIA TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19, the president tweeted early Friday morning. It was an earth-shattering announcement mere weeks from Election Day.  Mr. Trump said he and the first lady would begin quarantining immediately.  The first lady also tweeted after the positive tests, saying she and the president were “feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements.”  The positive tests came just hours after it was reported that Mr. Trump’s top aide Hope Hicks had tested positive for the virus.  Mr. Trump is 74 years old and has at least one underlying condition, placing him at a higher risk for complications, according to Centers for Disease Control guidance.  The White House physician issued a memo confirming the positive tests, and saying the president and first lady were doing well and planned to remain at home.  “Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments,” wrote Sean Conley, physician to the president.  “The strength of the entire country is with President @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a tweet, adding that Mr. Trump would “continue to put the People first!”  The positive tests came just hours after it was reported that Mr. Trump’s top aide Hope Hicks had tested positive for the virus.

MELANIA TRUMP TWEETS “WE ARE FEELING GOOD” AFTER DIAGNOSIS

First lady Melania Trump has tweeted about her positive Covid-19 test results.  “We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements,” she said. “Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”

MULTIPLE OFFICIALS, INCLUDING JOE BIDEN, MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO TRUMP

With three people in the White House — President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and top aide Hope Hicks — now testing positive for coronavirus, questions are arising as to how many people within the administration may have been exposed to the virus.  Three Minnesota congressmen—U.S. Reps. Jim Hagedorn, Tom Emmer, and Pete Stauber— traveled this week on Air Force One with President Trump from Washington, D.C., to Minnesota, for Wednesday night’s rally in Duluth. Trump adviser Hope Hicks was also on the flight, and was reportedly isolated as she began to show symptoms of COVID-19 during the trip. The representatives also traveled with the president in a motorcade before and after the rally. While in the state, Trump also held a private conversation with the state Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, and House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, who later posted a picture on Twitter of himself standing, unmasked, just inches from Trump in front of Air Force One. Former congressman and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jason Lewis was also present at the meeting. The president also attended a private fundraiser at the suburban Minnetonka home of Cambria CEO Marty Davis.
