**RED FLAG WARNING**

As anticipated, the National Weather Service Offices in Caribou and Gray, in collaboration with the Maine Forest Service, have issued a RED FLAG WARNING for today, May 21, 2020. The RED FLAG WARNING is in place from 9 AM to 7PM today for the following areas:

AFFECTED AREAS…Northwest Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northern Somerset, Northern Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, Central Piscataquis, Central Penobscot, Southern Piscataquis and Northern Washington.

TIMING…Thursday, May 21, 2020

WINDS…West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY…As low as 20 percent.

TEMPERATURES…In the lower 80s.

**PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.**

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now…or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…warm temperatures along with dry fuels will create dangerous fire weather conditions.
