Scaled-down Memorial Day on tap; outbreak at Tyson plant

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine hopes to find an alternative to quarantines by the time lodging opens to out-of-state visitors in July. For now, officials said Wednesday that the state is contemplating a low-key kickoff to the summer season on Memorial Day. Officials also announced Wednesday that a food-processing plant is the first non-health-related business to be hit with an outbreak of the new coronavirus. Tyson Foods is working with the state to test all workers at its Portland facility. Also, the Maine Lobster Festival and Beach to Beacon road race will not take place in 2020 because of fears about the virus.
