Virus in New England: Vermont delays vote on colleges’ fate

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The Vermont State Colleges board says it will not vote Monday on the reconfiguration plan for three institutions at risk of closing as originally planned. Meanwhile, Boston is set to start using public works trucks to broadcast messages about safety. City officials said the trucks will be outfitted with sound equipment to deliver messages about social distancing, washing hands and using facial coverings. The effort was slated to begin Sunday. In Maine, a Republican state lawmaker is encouraging residents to join him in a demonstration on Monday that will call for the reopening of the state. New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s attorneys filed court papers seeking to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Democrats in the state about coronavirus relief money.
